About the event

Apply by 22.07.2022 for the "4C Accelerator Tübingen" of the Medical Innovations Incubator GmbH - THE qualification programme for national and international founders and start-ups from the medical life science and health sector.

The funding concept, which was nominated for the Rudolf Diesel Medal, includes focused training in the 4Cs and the Regulatory Thinking® approach. Together with experts, the business model is further developed and made "investor-ready".

Overview

The survival of life science start-ups is particularly challenging compared to other industries due to the time span and the capital required to reach market maturity. This is due in particular to the following 4Cs:

C1 | Commercialisation: How do I generate revenue in the healthcare sector?

Many interest groups (e.g. patients, doctors, medical associations, nursing homes) and market peculiarities (e.g. self-payers, complex reimbursement rules of health insurance companies) make market access and revenue generation difficult.

C2 |Certification: How is my product and my company certified?

The establishment of a quality management system for company registration (e.g. ISO 13485, Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP)) and the preparation of technical documentation for product registration (e.g. Medical Device Regulation, In Vitro Diagnostic Regulation, Medicinal Products Act) are usually the basic prerequisites for successful market entry.

C3 |Clinical Studies: How do I prove the safety and performance of my product?

Evidence on the clinical evidence or safety and performance of the product is essential and also costly and time-consuming for start-ups.

C4 |Copyright: How can I use data/property rights to my advantage?

Using and maintaining patents and IP rights strategically is important for company valuation, successful negotiations with investors or licensees and for planning exit scenarios.

With the help of extensive knowledge of the 4Cs and Regulatory Thinking® as a team mindset, life science start-ups close the gap between innovation in general and successful medical innovation in particular. Knowledge of the so-called Entrepreneurship Essentials using common methods such as Business Model Canvas, Business Plans, Design Thinking or Lean Launchpad are important for the training of successful life science start-ups, but in our view they are not sufficient. We are convinced: Only a deep understanding of the 4Cs will really help you to become more investor ready!
